In her own words...
My life now is quiet and serene....Mostly, though, I work. In the last five years I've been most productive. It's as if — and I hate to even think this — now that I'm alone, I can really do it, really achieve. Strange, isn't it? But I'm getting along in age, and I won't be able to paint much longer. Maybe I'm doing all I'm doing because I feel there's not much time left. I never was a mother, you know, so I never left a string of people. But I think leaving a string of paintings is not a bad thing to do.
